Edinburgh's Stunning Shops and Restaurants Are No Illusion!

With Edinburgh coming to life as the stunning backdrop for the 64th annual Edinburgh International Film Festival last week, there has never been a better time to take advantage of the plethora of great shops, restaurants and bars to help you soak up the movie atmosphere.

Famous Frills

If you want to dress like a movie star you can you can choose from large department stores such as Jenners and Harvey Nichols, to individual boutiques such Jane Davidson and Pam Jenkins  on Thistle Street  which are both named in  Vogue’s “Britain’s Best Boutiques 2010.”  Here you will find Jimmy Choos and Louboutins to fulfil any movie star’s love for designer footwear. Just make your way along George Street, Hanover Street, Frederick Street, Thistle Street and Broughton Street where there is too much choice to name.

Steal their style

Many shops have now started their summer sales so there are many savings to be had. Like new movies being screened to audiences, new lines are also coming into the shops including Accessorize, Radley and Top Shop, which has a new range of vintage 1960’s clothes called Rough Diamond based on the movie “An Education.”  This range includes leopard print, furs, jewelled headbands and lace.
Alternatively In between screenings you could wander around Prince’s Street and its surrounding streets imagining that you have being transported to the year 1959 and are an extra in the “The Illusionist,” taking in the atmosphere and architecture of this historic city.

Movie Star Menus

Why not take a seat at one of our cafes with outdoor seating, where you could deliberate over the Festival’s best films as if you are an honorary member of the Michael Powell Jury. There are many cafes and restaurants to choose from including Urban Angel on Hanover Street: Cafe Rouge on Frederick Street: Olorosso on Castle Street and Centotre on George Street. There is a great selection to choose from just like the range of movies at this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival.
