Christmas Shopping... For Families And Couples

Festive families, prepare for an actionpacked Christmas…

Family fun starts with a visit to Santa. He ‘ho, ho, ho’s his way to Jenners toy department from Saturday 28 November. It’s a 9am start at Hard Rock Café on George Street on 12, 13, 19 and 20 December when breakfast, party games and a visit from Santa (£7.95 kids, £9.95 adults, age 2 and under free) are on the menu. Outdoors at the Winter Wonderland, Santa feeds the reindeers twice daily until 23 December. For a kid-friendly bite to eat, Centotre,103 George Street, has kids menus and Pizza Hut on Hanover Street offers a buffet for kids under 12 for just £3.49. John Lewis provides a baby feeding room and buggy friendly zones for coffee and pastries. From Monday to Thursday at Vittoria on Leith Walk, kids can eat homemade Italian classics for just £1 (donated direct to Radio Forth’s Cash for Kids appeal) when accompanying adults orders mains from the à la carte menu. For Sunday chuckles, the clown is in the restaurant from 1pm-5pm.  For some down time, the children’s reading corner in Waterstone’s is great to get stuck into the hotly-tipped Happy Christmas Boris by Sam Lloyd.

COSY COUPLES
Mistletoe and wine…

Retreat to the stylish West End Village for an intimate and relaxed shopping experience. Stafford Street and William Street in the West End are full of independents with gift ideas. Head to Paper Tiger for your Christmas cards, Studio One for quirky books, interiors and toys for boys, Sam Thomas and Helen Bateman for silk scarves and costume jewellery and Rocco Venezia for Italian bubbles. Back in town, treat your other half to the Fragrance Profiling service at Penhaligons, to find the perfect scent for you. There’s also a Christmas Shopping VIPevent on 2nd December, 6-8pm, with a 15% discount on the night.  After shopping, to inject some festive romance and the fun factor, go ice skating in the Gardens or cuddle up on the Big Wheel and take in the city from above.
