Child Friendly Cafes and Restaurants for October Break

Whether you are planning to visit Edinburgh Castle, the Georgian House or the Edinburgh Dungeons during this October break, there are a host of restaurants and cafes to recharge your family’s batteries – and save you from cooking!

At La Favorita on Leith Walk children can enjoy fresh and homemade Italian food including a Nutella pizza! On Sunday afternoons Stevie the clown entertains and kids eat for £1 deal (not Fri/Sat evenings).

The Enfants’ Menu at Cafe Rouge on Frederick Street has a high-quality selection including chicken gourjons, pasta and omelettes. Children are given activity packs to keep them busy before the food arrives! Alternatively Rose Street’s Mussel Inn serves kiddie mussel pots, perfect for all seafood lovers.

If you are combining your trip with some shopping, why not head to John Lewis at the St James Centre? Food served at the fourth floor’s Place to Eat offers an extensive menu with main meals, breakfasts and snacks. A perfect place to go to especially with  very young children, they boast first-class facilities, with family toilets and a baby changing and feeding room.

Or if you just have time for a cup of coffee, why not treat everyone to an afternoon tea or cream tea at Eteaket tea boutique on Frederick Street? There are cupcakes galore and enough to go round to stop any fighting over who is choosing which cake!
